High-Speed Citizenship: Gender Equality, Sports Law and the Challenges of Women in Motorsport

This article discusses the participation of women in motorsport, a sport traditionally associated with the male sphere, with the aim of understanding the factors that limit women's access to elite categories and how Sports Law can contribute to promoting gender equality. The research is grounded in the importance of recognizing sports as a means of exercising citizenship and the need to eliminate discriminatory practices from athletic activities. The methodology used is qualitative and bibliographic, based on legal documents, specialized literature, and historical and contemporary examples of women's presence in motorsport. It concludes that, although there has been progress, institutional and symbolic barriers persist, requiring the creation of effective public and legal policies to ensure gender equality in motor racing.
